Yet another botched circumcision.

It seem like every other week there is a news article about a botched circumcision. And not just any botched circumcision, but one with a really horrible story attached to it.

This newest one stands out because of the 4 year old boy who has been suffering so much that he has been pleading to  “just cut it off [his penis] and [he] can be a girl.” He already even thinks of himself as a girl because, he needs to sit to pee due to him having more then one place for the urine to come out of now.

The little boy is suffering physical and mental pain from this. And rightfully blames his parents for this. After all. It was them who decided to have a doctor perform the unnecessary amputation of part of his penis that had gone wrong.

Yes. The doctor deserves some of the blame. But the parents are the ones who deserve most of it. They did not just fail to protect their child. They actively and willfully searched for someone to cut part of their child’s penis off. So this would never have happened if they just left their kids perfectly functioning penis alone.

[Note: There are paroles between male and female circumcision. And it would be vary difficult to find differences between the two. Only when we get into the rare and extreme forms of female circumcision (Type III) are there areas of differences that can be argued.]

American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) conclusion on how the supposed benefits (remember the AAP has not updated their information on circumcision in a long time,) do not outweigh the risk associated by circumcision. The statement from the AAP says:

“Existing scientific evidence demonstrates potential medical benefits of newborn male circumcision; however, these data are not sufficient to recommend routine neonatal circumcision.”
